Traffic Control Lead / Supervisor
Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Traffic Control Lead / Supervisor to oversee and coordinate traffic management operations on construction sites. In this pivotal role, you will lead a team of traffic control personnel, ensure safety protocols are strictly followed, and facilitate smooth vehicle and pedestrian flow around active construction zones. Your leadership will help maintain a safe, efficient work environment while adhering to all safety regulations and standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale projects by managing traffic operations with precision and enthusiasm.
Duties
- Supervise and coordinate traffic control activities across construction sites, ensuring compliance with safety standards and traffic regulations
- Lead, train, and motivate traffic control team members to deliver high-quality service and maintain safety protocols
- Set up and adjust traffic control devices such as cones, barriers, signs, and flagging equipment to direct vehicle and pedestrian movement effectively
- Monitor construction zones continuously to identify potential hazards or congestion issues and implement corrective actions promptly
- Collaborate with project managers, safety officers, and local authorities to plan traffic flow strategies that minimize disruptions
- Conduct regular safety inspections of traffic control setups and equipment like barricades, flagging gear, and signage
- Maintain detailed records of daily operations, incidents, safety checks, and team performance for reporting purposes
Requirements
- Proven experience in traffic control supervision or related construction site roles with a focus on safety management
- Strong knowledge of traffic control devices, flagging procedures, and safety regulations such as OSHA standards
- Ability to operate heavy equipment, including dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, front loader trucks, dump trucks, and paving machinery, is highly desirable
- Hands-on experience with heavy equipment operation, such as Caterpillar machinery or similar brands is preferred
- Construction site experience with familiarity in utility locating, paving processes, and general construction workflows
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to train teams effectively and enforce safety protocols rigorously
- Physical ability to stand for long periods, perform manual tasks, and work outdoors in various weather conditions
